I know you’re probably thinking transits/stopovers are long and tedious, but if you have a long wait like a whole day then it is definitely worth exploring a city rather than sleeping at the airport. In my opinion, it would be silly to transit for an hour as that will leave you no time, so I would recommend to check your flight itinerary and book a flight that has a stopover for 16 hours (well that depends on where you’re going)….

.........If you’re going to places like Marrakech or Cyprus then a stopover is good.....it is like visiting another city or two which you can tick off your bucket list! But, if you’re going to Asia, I wouldn’t recommend stopovers as a direct flight is the best option!

*Mini Essential Tips:

(1) Take advantage of the free WIFI at the airport and go on TripAdvisor to look at the top rates spots for a city….trust me, you will find A LOT, so all you have to do is choose either 1 or 2…

(2) Make use of the tourist information office inquiring on public transport facilities and the best way of getting into the city! They are helpful and it is less hassle as the first thing you don’t want is getting lost in a new city…..

(3) I can’t stress this enough but wear COMFY SHOES!!!! Fall in love with your Nike trainers and ditch wearing heels when you have to walk for long hours.

(4) Don’t plan stuff in advanced as this will spoil the fun..Always go with the flow and don’t be afraid of getting lost, for main cities you will always find your way back and there are lot’s of people around to ask!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this mini guide to making the most of your stopover…..

……And I will also post more stuff on what I did in various one stopover cities so keep an eye!
